WAPA ELECTIONS FOR 2025!

The Woodland Area Pickleball Association (WAPA) is a volunteer-run organization governed by an elected Board of Directors (BOD) and appointed members-at-large. 

WAPA conducts a general election in January of each year to elect the President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer to terms that begin on April 1 according to Article 4 of the WAPA Bylaws.

 

The schedule for the current election cycle is as follows:
  • Dec 1 - Jan 7, 2025 – Collecting Declarations of candidacy 

  • Jan 7 – 16, 2025 – Submission of Candidate Bios and Photos

  • Jan 17 - 31, 2025 – Voting on nominated candidates

  • Mid-Feb, 2025 – Announce results to WAPA membership

Description of Elected Positions:

  • President. The President shall: 

    • Be the chief executive officer of the Association. 

    • Have general supervision and provide direction of the affairs of the Association, subject to the control of the BOD.  

    • Preside at all meeting of the members and the BOD, or designate substitute to preside.  

    • Serve as primary liaison between WAPA and the City of Woodland or designate alternative liaison. 

    • Submit court reservations for events

    • Inquiries regarding court maintenance or improvements 

    • POC for Parks and Rec events.  

    • Coordinate with Parks and Rec Committee.  

    • Sign up on email list for Parks and Rec Committee Agendas 

    • Coordinate distribution of tasks for other BOD members 

    • Respond to questions for the BOD on dedicated WhatsApp channel 

    • Schedule regular BOD meetings and as many ad-hoc meetings as needed 

    • Network and collaborate with local Pickleball pros, organizations, and facilities.  
       

  • Vice President The Vice President shall: 

    • Lead fundraising activities for WAPA 

    • Network with supporting businesses / organizations 
       

  • Secretary. The Secretary shall: 

    • Prepare and keep minutes of all meetings of the BOD and members. 

    • Enforce Robert's Rules of Order. 

    • Prepare minutes and provide them to the general membership. 

    • Maintain a set of the operative, updated Bylaws. 

    • Update Bylaws if a revision is approved. (Article 13) 

    • Maintain an archive of all Association Bylaws, Association meeting minutes and entity documents. 

    • Regularly check and respond to contact channels, ie. email, mail. 

    • Prepare & submit tax and nonprofit filings for the Association. 

    • Supplemental BOD elected and member at large duty statements, approved 9/2024 

    • Maintain insurance for members. 
       

  • Treasurer. The Treasurer shall:

    • Be responsible for depositing cash/check payments into the bank.
